Revascularization of High-risk Aortoiliac Occlusions
Chronic renal failure, severe cardiac disease, pulmonary insufficiency, morbid obesity or any uncontrolled malignant or other systemic disease that limits the performance of extensive transperitoneal operative treatment induce extra-anatomic forms of reconstruction for aortoiliac occlusive disease. Within the period 19992003, we operated 37 such patients by methods of extra-anatomic bypasses. W...
متن کاملPercutaneous endovascular treatment for stenoses and occlusions of infrarenal aorta and aortoiliac bifurcation: midterm results.
OBJECTIVE evaluation and comparison of the endovascular treatment of isolated aortic and aortoiliac atherosclerotic lesions (stenoses and occlusions). METHODS a percutaneous endovascular procedure was performed in 52 patients (38 men and 14 women) with a mean age of 52 years (range, 25-85 years). The baseline angiogram showed 35 aortic lesions (31 stenoses, 4 occlusions) and 17 aortoiliac les...
متن کاملBrachial access technique for aortoiliac stenting revisited
We report a modified technique to perform iliac artery stenting through the brachial artery access. A 6F Brite tip sheath (Cordis, Jonhson & Jonhson Medical, Miami Lakes, FL, USA) is inserted into either brachial artery and a standard 4F Judkins Right diagnostic catheter was inserted over a 260 cm 0.038” Terumo Stiff wire (Terumo Corp, Tokyo, Japan) through the sheath. The catheter is navigated...
متن کاملProcedural and Early Outcomes of Two Re-entry Devices for Subintimal Recanalization of Aortoiliac and Femoropopliteal Chronic Total Occlusions
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Subintimal angioplasty is a common treatment choice for chronic total occlusions (CTO) in the iliac and femoropopliteal arteries. This article describes the technical aspects and early outcomes of two different re-entry devices and comparison with manual re-entry technique. SUBJECTS AND METHODS A retrospective review of 61 patients (re-entry group) treated with Outba...
متن کاملThe treatment of aortoiliac occlusions by endovascular stenting with or without adjuvant femorofemoral crossover grafting.
We present four consecutive patients in whom we have used a combination of vascular and endovascular techniques in order to revascularise ischaemic legs caused by extensive aortoiliac occlusions. We believe that the techniques presented offer a viable alternative to more conventional surgical approaches in such cases.
